"My sister and her husband just returned from their honeymoon and they had such a great time at Big Chef!!!

Thank you so much for organizing everything. They said it was the best meal they had in St. Lucia!

If I hear of anyone going down to St. Lucia I will definitely let them know about you guys. I used to work in the restaurant industry and I just want to tell you that the service that you gave went above and beyond what I expected. You made it very special for them and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

They loved the glasses, they have plans to use them for a nice Irish Coffee :-).

Thanks again."

"Wow! I'm not the biggest steak fan but this restaurant has converted me!! My boyfriend had the 14oz rib eye steak with local spiced rice and Jimmy (or something similar) sauce. He keeps joking about flying back out here to eat there again! I had the Ultimate surf and turf which was beautiful - although a little creamy for my taste.

The wine was a fresh Chile Sav. Blanc which complimented the meal perfectly and would defo recommend this. For desert I had the biggest portion of chocolate fudge cake, which was well presented with vanilla ice cream and very fresh - delicious. Only order the 'blackout' if your heavy drinker as it was very strong and we couldn't drink it!

Will recommend to anyone!"

"This resturant was incredible. The waitresses were SO nice. We barely took a sip of our drink before they were filling it up again! The chef is known world-wide. The atmosphere is very subtle. I got my steak well done and it STILL melted in my mouth. I would highly recommend the filet mignon. Ok, I'll just say it like this, if I were on death row and they asked what I wanted for my last meal, I'd say Big Chef's! You have to try this place. It is pricey, but it's comparable with others around. This is where we had our "big" meal of the day!"

"Excellent food! Rosie and her staff were fantastic. We enjoyed our food so much that we decided to go back for our last dinner on the island. A must while visiting St Lucia. Thanks Rosie."

"The best place that we ate during our week in St. Lucia-we went back for a second visit during the week. The filet along with the sauces was tremendous as well as the potato wedges (their version of fries). The brushetta was also excellent as well as the desserts. Expensive, but everywhere there seems to be."

"We ate at the Big Chef last night. We have eaten steak in Argentina, Chicago, New York etc - but this was the best steak we have eaten. Service was first class. The dining room is very well appointed and air conditioned. We drank a good bottle of red from a reasonable list. We have a home in St Lucia and had forgotten how good the Big Chef is. If you are visiting the island this is a place you should come and eat - but try to book as it is invariably full. In general this part of the world is not known for great food - but this is a gem (and for those from the UK do not be put off by the association with motorway food outlets)."

"Big Chef was an unexpected pleasure. The location leaves something to be desired, but the cuisine and class more than make up for that. The name sounds sort of "fast-foodish," and if that is what you are used to, well . . . then you and the Big Chef are probably not a good match. If you like Mortons, you'll like Big Chef. If you like McDonald's . . . uh, well, then you should probably go to McDonald's. You'll pay for it, but isn't that what island vacations are all about?"

"I’m a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant and I managed to get on the roster for a trip from Gatwick to St Lucia in the middle of June. It was the first trip for all the crew except our manager who had taken the flight a few times before. We’re always a little chaotic with arrangements as we move around in a big group, so it’s hard to find somewhere to eat that will suit everyone, but our boss recommended Big Chef Steak House on the second evening and eight of us gave it a try. The restaurant is east to find in Rodney Bay Village but we asked anyway and it seemed to be very well known – the interior is beautiful and tasteful, air-conditioned, with impressive décor and comfy seats and booths. It was a fantastic evening from beginning to end, the staff were so welcoming and the owner was very attentive throughout the meal – they didn’t even mind splitting the bill into four and calculated everything spot on! The food was incredible – delicious garlic bread and bruschetta to start, one of the guys had the ribeye steak and reported it was the best he had ever eaten (and he has been to restaurants all over the world), some had the local shrimps and Creole Fish which were to die for and I had baby-back ribs and really enjoyed every bite. They have killer parmesan fries with truffle oil – I think five of us had them in the end! We had cocktails (Mohitos, Lemon Drops and an Amaretto Sour) and wine (great house Shiraz), and nobody could manage dessert but the people on the table next door had a yummy looking cheesecake, and there was a huge slice of cake for someone’s birthday – Wednesday evening and it was really busy.

After all that we were sorry to leave, and promised Sheldon the waiter we’ll br recommend Big Chef to all the crews that fly into St. Lucia – it really was a top class meal in a lovely location, and we found it reasonably priced for the quality of the food and service. Oh and our boss went the following night and had yet another great visit!"

"My brother had been to Big Chef a couple of times over the last couple of years so our first night there went to have dinner. We prebooked that afternoon, got a great table and our waitress was superb - she even recognised my brother and sister in law and it was over a year ago they were there! We opted out of appetisers in order to save ourselves for the steaks but did order the cheesy garlic bread - delicious!! I had the filet mignon with salad and it was one of the tastiest steaks I have ever eaten. My brother had the 14 oz rib eye with chunky fries, my sister in law had the 14 oz sirloin and my husband had the 14 oz tenderloin - all cooked to perfection and all very tasty.

Definitely recommend this restaurant and compared to what we would have paid for the same meal in Barbados it was not as expensive for the high quality meat being served."

"We went to this restaurant two times during our 6 night stay in St. Lucia in March/April 2010. The first time we went because I asked The Landings (the property we stayed at ) for a recommendation for the best restaurant. When we arrived we were promptly seated and a waitress came to our table and was very helpful. Our meals were all amazing. I ordered the Dorado because I wasnt taking a chance ordering filet mignon ( the only steak I will eat) at a restaurant that I did not know. The fish was wonderfully prepared. Although we did not eat at all the restaurants on St. Lucia, I venture to say that this is the best restaurant on St. Lucia. That is why we returned for dinner on our last night. The host immediately welcomed us back and we were promptly seated. This night I felt confident enough to order the filet mignon. We were told that all their steaks are imported from Texas and I can tell you that my filet mignon had not a touch of fat on it and was cooked to a perfect medium temperature. It was the best filet mignon I have had and would put it up against any steakhouse in New York. My son, who also does not order meat often, ordered the ribs and literally sucked the bones dry. The baked potatoes were excellent with the chives served individually on top of the sour cream. The red cabbage was home made and again the best I have ever had. The peanut brittle ice cream with bananas and the flan for desset were amazing - all homemade and you could tell. When it comes to food I am a harsh critic and I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The husband and wife team which renovated, own and run this restaurant, and came to our table both nights, are very hands on and I cant imagine a poor experience here."

"This was one of the last meals, so by the time we hit this restaurant, we'd eaten at every other restaurant on the Rodney Bay strip! This place was worth the price (cheaper than other restaurants), had AMAZING service, and some of the best food. It's fine dining without the $100 entrees and everything on the menu (from what we had and what we heard from others) is delicious."

"After reading the Trip Advisor reviews we decided we would have to visit the Big Chef Steakhouse, especially as we are all big Steak lovers.

We were a group of 10 and the service was fantastic. We had a table booked in advance as we knew the Restaurant had a good reputation. The owner was also out making her around tables talking to people. It is deceiving on the outside, but the interior of the restaurant is very romantic, low level lighting and has a great atmosphere.

I had a 14oz Steak, my Husband had the 22oz and two of our group completed the 32oz challenge (and managed a starter and desert). For those with smaller appetites, the Chef can cut the Steak down to the size you require.

It is not the cheapest restaurant but well worth it for the quality of the food, and of course the service. We would definitely recommend a trip to the Big Chef Steakhouse if you are in Rodney Bay."

"Terrific restaurant, great food. Highly recommend this restaurant. From the appetizers to the salads, main course to dessert, it was all simply awesome. Best meal of our entire vacation. Owner stopped by to chat and welcome us. Wine prices were reasonable."

March 28th 2010

"Excellent steak, haven't had better anywhere. Attentive service, my husband knocked his glass of wine over, it was cleared up and a replacement (free of charge) on the table within 30 seconds. Forget appetizers and try to leave space for the excelent desserts."

"I travel the world on business, go to lots of restaurants. This was one of the finest restaurant meals I have had in some time. All courses were great. Owner was most congenial and informative. Had a filet, very well prepared. Deserts are hand made by the owner. Great ambiance. Great location."

March 11th 2010

"The hosts Mark and Rosie are so welcoming, staff are fabulous. We were a bit put off at first by the size of the steaks on the menu. Then Mark explained that they would cut a steak to suit the appetite. That's service. It actually says this on the menu which we missed. The prices are pro-rata, to the size of the steak."

"This restaurant was well-worth the trip. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend."

March 6th 2010

"We just got back from our trip and this was by far the best meal we had on the island. Amazing filet mignon and the Parmesan fries were very good. The by the glass wines were not the best, but the atmosphere and food made up for that in strides. The servers are quiet unless you talk with them, in which case they may just open right up to you! My parents have been to Big Chef on many occasions and say it is consistently a great quality meal. Make reservations as it is a small place and always fills up."

"We had a great time here. The food is awesome. We all had great meals and the service was top drawer."

February 14th 2010

"Big Chef is located in Rodney Bay, behind Rodney Bay Mall. It's deceiving on the outside, but a warm, cozy atmosphere on the inside. We went there for dinner and had an incredible meal (one of the best on the island by far). For an appetizer, we got the bruschetta, which was the best we've ever had. Just when we thought the food couldn't get any better, our main meal came out - filet mignon & NY strip with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak melts in your mouth and the sauces that accompany them are amazing. If you're a steak lover, be sure to go to Big Chef. You will walk out saying that it's the best steak you've ever had."

February 6th 2010

"We went here on our last night of a two week vacation, we regretted not going earlier, The food was outstanding, as was the service, Although pricey, it was worth every penny, My wife had shrimp cocktail followed by fillet Migon, then a sweet (creamy ice cream with cassis and blackberries, delicious) I had the sea food surprise, and a 14oz sirlion, together with two glasses then a bottle of Proscetto(S) and four or five beers, this came to about $200 US (the wine was about $70 so this pushed the cost up) Worth every penny, I would advise booking as although we were first to arrive the place was full within 45mins, Pricers are in EC's, but you can get your bill in US$. We will be back."
